Niccolo Machiavelli s The Prince - 1465 Words

Niccolà ² Machiavelli had a very negative view when it came to the nature of humans. He made the weakness of human nature the central message of all his writings. Machiavelli’s mannerist cynicism about human weakness came about from wounded idealism, for life had taught him that his early optimism was wrong. In most of his writings, he is meaning for human nature to restore sanity to a world that he believed to have gone mad. Machiavelli’s most enduring contribution that left the strongest imprint on Western culture was, The Prince, which led into the worldly debate of whether the end justifies the means. The Prince was written in 1513 while Machiavelli was exiled to his family estate outside of the city. It is a very small book that did not become widely known until after his death; his work was finally published in 1532. When it came to writing, The Prince, Machiavelli had many motives and a specific purpose he was trying to get across to his fellow peers. He was out raged and lost hope when he found out about the dismemberment by the French and the Spanish kings in Italy. Machiavelli began to focus on inspiring a native leader to unify the peninsula and get rid of all the foreigners. He also wanted to illuminate the truth about politics and to regain employment in the Florentine state. With all the hopes of proving his point, his works failed and Italy remained fragmented until the year of 1870. Should Guns Be Allowed On A College And University Campus

The question of whether guns should be allowed on a college and university campus in the United States reflects the tension between two different viewpoints. One major concern deals with the safety of the students. Many people have suggested that both the students and teachers should be allowed to carry concealed weapons on campus, due to all the recent disturbance of violent crimes on campuses. Those that are for this may claim that their rights have been violated because of the many colleges that refuse to allow weapons of any kind on their campus. The debate is not the right to carry a gun, but whether or not guns should be allowed on a college campus. The Second Amendment provides United States citizens the right to bear arms. By living in the south for 19 years, I can truly say that I have seen a gun before, but I do not think it is appropriate for guns to be in areas such as a college campus. There are already too many guns being available to the public, and allowing them on a campus would only increase the chances of people being injury or even death. Path, Tranquility, and Time Life is built upon decisions, substantial or miniscule, that eventually come together in an attempt to define who I am. Choices made will work to shape my future: whether it be the path that I follow in the end, or what I choose to believe. In â€Å"The Road Not Taken,† Frost helps to further illustrate these points. When he stumbles upon two separate paths, one that is worn and the other not quite so much, he is left to ponder which one he should follow. They both look relatively similar, but after a moment of contemplation, he decides to take the path less traveled: claiming that in the end it â€Å"has made all the difference.† I find myself drawn by this particular poem, because I relate to the message Frost is trying to convey to the reader. I had struggled for some time in deciding what my major would be. Fighting between my desire in writing, and safety within teaching. In this manner, becoming a teacher was the path more traveled. There was certainty as to where my life would go, and I would be guaranteed a secure and stable job and life. Be that as it may, the daunting lifestyle of a writer continued to grasp my attention. Helping you improve your life, there are many types of personal change at work. There are things you can do by yourself, and there are things you might need a mental or spiritual practitioner to help you with. Available for a person are a great many avenues and techniques. Through a journey of discovery personal change happens. What you need is your way, and the answers that are needed are your answers. No answer is fully wrong, but it might be used out of context without awareness of where it belongs. The mind contains many wrong answers. To be more precise, any emotional response can be useful in some situations, and not useful in many other situation. The process of realizing and rejecting the wrong answers one has used is called clearing. These wrong answers arent just thrown away, but they are returned to the time, place and context where they properly belong. You might have had a problem with getting angry inappropriately, for example. You might through some process of discovery realize that the anger really belonged with a specific incident 30 years ago. Now that would allow you to clear your undesirable response. Once you discover what it is really about clearing the wrong answer is very easy. It is because you havent yet discovered everything about it if it is currently not easy. Sometimes you might think that you know what is wrong with you, but it doesnt resolve it. It just means that there is more work to do. There is something more to learn. There is nothing wrong with you. This is the truth of the matter. But, you might have incorrectly identified with answers that are currently wrong for you. You can be much more yourself by straightening that out. You can put things in their right place and it brings a greatly increased emotional and mental clarity by clearing your mind. Life can become much more comfortable and simple. We all depend on a whole lot of mental programs to function in life. It is how you do things. These programs are the sub-conscious patterns that determine how we think and respond to situations. When you talk you dont have full awareness of your choice of words and the grammatical sentence construction, for example. You probably just feel like saying something, and the sentences somehow come out alright. Most programs are hidden. Sometimes you dont have an appropriate program for what you want to do. That is when we might want to change the programming of your mind. Sometimes your programs dont work in the most useful way for you. Programming is important in understanding change and self-fulfillment. The process of establishing useful ways of how to do things is called programming. That might involve the discovery of how you already do things, the construction of more powerful methods, and the re-training of your sub-conscious. Helping you to get more out of life, your mind is basically a set of tools. You can increase your abilities and your enjoyment by sharpening the tools you have and by adding more tools. In a more resourceful manner that can help you to deal with life. Permanent personal change doesnt have much to do with conscious intellectualizing. You need to feel and respond different, not just talk differently to be different. It is very important to engage your sub-conscious mind in any desired change that you wish to make, therefore. Self-fulfillment and personal change can be pursued systematically by engaging in various processes. A process is a distinct activity that addresses an existing situation and gradually changes it into something else. We will work on an issue in a systematic manner is what it basically means. For working on areas where change is desired, processing is the ongoing activity. Many different techniques might be applied. Typically a technique will be chosen that fits the situation at hand and it will be used until you get a noticable result from it. It is the skilled resolution of issues. Processing is not just random attempts to figure something out. The practitioner will ask you, the client, questions and will ask you to do specific things in a typical processing session. The questions will be intended to help you discover more about yourself. The directions will be intended to help you to develop your personal resources and to experience things differently. For change and self-fullfillment to happen, processing is simply an educational vehicle to help you change your own way of being for the better. It takes your cooperation to do. With the help of a skilled practitioner you can make magical changes in your life. Processing is not doing something to you. Semantics is the study of meaning, the underlying mental and spiritual structures that life is based on. Motivational influences begin or maintain desired change. For a smoker, the change in smoking habit, or trying to quit smoking, can have a strong impact on their personality, particularly on how the person deals with stress. This is also true for someone who over-works, works full-time, works at more than two jobs or is studying and working as well. For a person who doesn’t get enough sleep, doesn’t eat well, and has sick relatives, the need for change is often important in achieving self-fulfillment. It can refresh the person if the change is good. However, what one must keep in mind is that sometimes some people are hesitant towards change, and can become sensitive towards it. You arent just a body or a mind. You are much more. By working on yourself you can gradually discover your own true nature and unleash the tremendous potentials within you. By clearing away the barriers of the mind you can become much more of what you really are. Underneath the appearances there isnt truly anything wrong with you. You will find that you already have the resources you need. You might have forgotten how to use them, so it might take some re-discovery to become the complete and whole person you really are. Any change that you can imagine is possible. The changes you cant imagine will also become possible, as long as you are willing to develop and learn. Life can be wondrous and fascinating. You can expand your awareness, your understanding, and your abilities. Limitation can change into freedom, weakness can change into power, drudgery can turn into joy. All you need to do to start is to realize that it is possible.
